Health Equity Summit

Each year, Cancer Support Community Los Angeles hosts webinars for experts in public health, behavioral health, and oncology on the subject of disparity in cancer care. The goal of this annual web conference is to advance health equity through collaboration across medical experts and other cancer care professionals.

In 2026, CSCLA’s Health Equity Summit will be held as a free CE webinar series that explores the challenges and advancements in providing equitable and holistic psychosocial support in cancer care in diverse and underserved communities.

In this series, we will cover:

  • Current challenges, gaps, and advancements in psychosocial support
  • In what ways these challenges impact patient outcomes
  • Innovative approaches to address challenges
  • Tools for providers to enhance cancer care for diverse and underrepresented populations

The first webinar in this free series will be held on Tuesday, October 20, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. The presentation is titled “Advancing Equity in Cancer Clinical Trial Participation” and the speaker is Timothy J. Williamson, Ph.D., MPH, an Associate Professor of Psychological Science at Loyola Marymount University and Director of the Psychosocial Risk & Resilience in Stress & Medicine (PRRISM) Research Lab. He is the Principal Investigator of a nationwide clinical trial evaluating Mindful Self-Compassion for Lung Cancer (MSC-LC), a virtually delivered psychosocial intervention for adults with lung cancer.
